Our 1st Meet Up
The group was formed as 'St Albans ME/CFS Support Group' in February 2016 by Maxine Ellis


2017
Our 1st Anniversary

#MillionsMissing
We supported ActionME's global campaign in St Albans to raise awareness and funds for research and treatment for ME.

2018-2019
Name Change
As the group grew we changed our name to Hertfordshire ME/CFS Support Group in order to reach more members across the county.
2020-2021
Online Meetings Begin
During the COVID19 pandemic we started online meet ups meaning we could reach more members and those unable to previously join in-person.

2022
Art & ME Exhibition
Our first event following the COVID19 pandemic was an exhibition showcasing our member's artwork in support of ActionME's #MillionsMissing campaign. Funded by Hertfordshire Community Foundation. We raised over £350!
2023-2024
Community In Residence
A year of creative and social sessions with St Albans Museum & Gallery culminating in a M.E Awareness exhibition and event including our members creative work, poetry and music. Funded by Hertfordshire Community Foundation

2024
Annual Boat Trip
Every year we have a canal boat trip with Waterways experiences. Its is a chance for us to meet with others and be in nature.
This is funded by Sohail's legacy.
2025-2030
Funding For Meetings
A big thank you to St Albans Fund for the Future who have awarded us a grant for 5 years. This will fund our in person and zoom meetings for the next 5 years. Aiming to reduce isolation and lonliness by connecting in a safe and caring enviroment.

May 2026
Awareness Exhibition
With support from the Herts Community Foundation, we have been running monthly creative sessions at St Albans Museum + Gallery and recently held a successful awareness exhibition at St Albans Cathedral for those living with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Long COVID and Fibromyalgia.
The exhibition celebrated the talent, resilience and creativity of our members, featuring a range of artwork and photography. We are delighted to share these pieces with you, and they can be viewed here.
New Project Launch
June 2026,funded by
The National Lottery
We are excited to announce a new project generously funded by the National Lottery, Community Fund.
This programme will combine a series of practical, interactive sessions with ongoing online support and resources to help participants continue their learning and practice between sessions.
Led by Stacey Landau, the programme will explore a range of approaches to supporting wellbeing through nervous system regulation. Topics will include breathwork, stress management, improving sleep, and other practical tools and techniques designed to promote resilience, and wellbeing.
We look forward to sharing more details soon and welcoming participants to this valuable new initiative.
